Dr. Jhapat Thapa grew up in Achham, Nepal. He went to B.P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan and obtained his medical degree with distinction in 2007. He worked in Achham, Nepal for 2.5 years with Nyaya Health (now Possible Health). In 2011, he attended Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY for his residency in Internal Medicine.
