What is a gynecologic oncologist?

As an integral part of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, our gynecologic oncologists provide comprehensive care for patients with pre-malignant and malignant diseases of the female reproductive tract. This includes surgical management many times using minimally invasive robotic techniques, chemotherapy and radiation therapy in conjunction with colleagues in radiation oncology. Clinical trials are available for gynecologic malignancies including intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. In addition, gynecologic oncologists provide expertise in complicated non-cancerous gynecologic surgical procedures.
